Completion requirements

Look at the University’s New Students’ Guide and complete the essential and recommended tasks under the 'Before you arrive' section. This will help everything go smoothly as you settle into being a student at Exeter.
Don't forget to get your tickets for the events in Welcome week and beyond. You can also look later in this course for an introduction to your subject.

- Attend our live presentations and Q&A for practical tips to moving to the UK.
- Let us introduce you to our student support: Chaplaincy, Welfare & Wellbeing, Disability Support, English Language and Study Skills, Residence Life. (Click on the playlist icon on the video below to see more videos)
- Read about the different accommodation available to you, whether in Cornwall or in the private sector.
- Read about the UK's healthcare system and make sure you have the cover you need before you need it.
- All non-UK nationals now need permission to study in the UK. Read our Student visa and EU Advice pages for details.
- Prepare for life in the UK by checking out our student blogs, Instagram, or our Living in the UK pages.
- Plan ahead for a cashless campus with a Caxton Currency card or an online bank account like Starling Bank or Monzo. Read more about UK banking.
We expect all new students to be on campus by the start of Welcome Week (Monday 18th September) so that you can attend induction sessions for your programme. If you anticipate any unavoidable delay in arriving due to visa or travel problems, please let us know as soon as possible.
When you arrive:
- International Student Clearance: Present your passport and immigration status (or visa) to the University, collect your UniCard and BRP card (if applicable).
- Digital Immigration Status: From 2022, some students will receive their visa as a Digital Immigration Status.
- Register with a Health Centre: Register with your local health centre and receive your free Meningitis vaccination.
- Open a UK bank account: You may want to open a bank account while in the UK. Watch our Banking and Finances in the UK presentation.
- New Students Guide: We know that starting a new university can be confusing. Our New Students Guide will help you work through key and recommended tasks when you start at Exeter
- Download our How to access support services presentation (also translated into Chinese), which details all of the support teams available to you, including free English language skills development classes.
