Three students at a laptop in the library

This year, teaching on all undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes starts on Monday 25th September. You will not be able to see your timetable until you have activated your IT account and completed your University registration, so please ensure that you check your email for information on how to do this.

You will be able to access your timetable via MyTimetable or in the iExeter app. This will tell you when all your scheduled learning activities for your programme, including where you need to be and when. We do expect you to attend all scheduled learning activities. Also, remember to ensure that your device is set to the correct timezone! Your timetable may continue to change for the first few weeks of term so please check it regularly to stay updated.

You will notice that your timetable is not completely full, and this is to allow time for other compulsory aspects of your course. For each of your modules there will be independent study that needs to be completed. This may include further reading, watching recorded videos, completing quizzes or written work and this will be explained by your module lead. In addition, you will be asked to meet with your tutor (sometimes these are in your timetable or your tutor will contact you) and there will be a range of activities to enhance your degree such as employability events and extra-curricular society events. All these are important parts of your degree and so do engage with them!

You will have some lectures, then practical sessions in the laboratories and seminars. After your first year you have more flexibility in the modules you take. For optional modules your teaching will usually be in smaller groups and may include more discussions and seminar-style teaching. For post-graduate students your teaching will be a mix of large group sessions and discussions, seminars and practical sessions.

Our Exeter Learning Environment (‘ELE’, pronounced ‘ellie’) provides all of the core materials for each of your modules. You can also find out more information about specific modules via the module descriptors, which will be linked to on your module page.

Please don’t attend any sessions (on campus or online) that are not in your personal timetable. On some modules, you will have an opportunity to request a different timetable slot for small group sessions via a timetable clinic held at the start of each term. This is primarily to resolve any clashes with other timetabled sessions.
