Now’s a good time to check the University’s web pages on what to do when you arrive. Here are some of the most important tasks for new CEC students:
Your timetable
You can access your personal timetable via the MyExeter app or MyExeter desktop, from Welcome Week onwards (16 September).
Check that you’ve chosen your optional modules
For help with this online task, you can contact Info at Penryn or chat with your tutor.
Register with the Student Health Centre
It’s important that you register with Penryn Surgery when you arrive in Penryn. You can do this during ‘Move-in’ weekend in The Compass (Exchange Building, Level 1 Library), or email compass@fxplus.ac.uk to request a registration form. There are doctor clinics available with Penryn Surgery in the Tremough House Annexe, Penryn Campus, five days a week during term time. For more information about local GP surgeries click here.
Contact our Accessibility and Inclusive Learning teams if disability support is required
You can go back and find more information about this from this section of this course, or click here for the University’s accessibility and inclusion web pages.
International students
If you’re an international student and moving to Exeter, your ‘Welcome to the University of Exeter’ email will state whether you need to present original documentation before you complete online registration. If you do, you’ll need to present your documents, and you’ll have received information in your email as to how to pre-book an appointment for this. There is more information about this here. If you are unsure, please consult the International Student Support pages or log a query at the Student Information Desk - SID.
- International Student Clearance: Present your passport and immigration status (or visa) to the University, collect your UniCard and BRP card (if applicable).
- Welcome Programme – Cornwall: A combination of online and in person events to welcome you to the University and help you settle into your new life with us.
- Digital Immigration Status: Some students will receive their visa as a Digital Immigration Status.
- Open a UK bank account: You may want to open a bank account while in the UK. Watch our 'FW2021 Banking and Finances in the UK' presentation. There will be someone from HSBC bank on campus all week to help with setting up a bank account.
