Here in Cornwall we work closely with the Falmouth & Exeter Students’ Union (the SU) to ensure you get the most out of your time at university.

The SU is an independent organisation focused on improving your university experience through empowering students to make change happen on our campus. This might be by planning exciting events and activities, running change-making campaigns, or creating welcoming and diverse communities that reflect our student population.

The Students’ Union is led by four sabbatical officers (also known as Presidents) who take a year out of their studies to work full-time guiding strategic decisions made at the union and representing students to the University. They are supported by full-time members of staff who help students with projects and ideas.

As part of Welcome Week, you will have the opportunity to meet the sabbatical officers, other members of SU staff, and student leaders.

Your Students’ Union will organise events throughout September to connect students from different courses and studying with Falmouth University and the University of Exeter. There is something for everyone, from coffee meet ups and artistic endeavours to sports club tasters and society events. The SU supports nearly 150 different sports clubs and societies, and we strongly encourage you to explore all the taster events during your induction to find groups and activities that match your interests. Connecting with other students is the key to beginning to feel at home here, so keep checking the SU website and start deciding what your welcome will look like!

But there’s more to the SU than socialising and sport: you can get free, impartial advice from the Advice team. They offer guidance on areas as diverse as money, accommodation, welfare, and academic issues such as appeals, mitigation and misconduct.
