Managing your time when starting university can be challenging. As we mentioned previously, your timetable is not completely full and so it is your responsibility to decide how to allocate time to independent study, assignments, other activities not associated with your modules (eg developing study skills, employability seminars), extra-curricular activities such as societies and other ‘life’ things! If you are starting a degree for the first time, it may take some time to adjust to this. If you’re starting a post-graduate degree, the first term can be quite busy, but it’s still important to allow yourself some time to adjust to your new surroundings.

The Study Hub has some resources for time management which are worth exploring and trying. Remember that one method won’t suit everyone and so try different things to help. If you find you’re struggling with your time, please don’t wait to ask for help - speak with your tutor or someone else you feel comfortable with. You can also book a one-to-one appointment with someone from the Study Hub to discuss time management strategies.
