3.8 What to do when you arrive

Two people walking

Now’s a good time to check the University’s web pages on what to do when you arrive. Here are some of the most important tasks for new EES students:

Your timetable

You will be able to access your timetable from My Timetable which, once you have registered your IT account, you can access via iExeter. This will tell you all your scheduled learning activities for your programme, including where you need to be when.

Check that you’ve chosen your optional modules

For help with this online task, you can contact Info at Penryn. Remember that on some undergraduate programmes, students can request to take up to 30 credits (i.e. two 15 credit modules or one 30 credit module) each year outside of your main degree subject, subject to meeting the compulsory requirements of your programme. This means that as long as your request is approved, and you meet module pre-requisites, you can choose from hundreds of different modules from across the University, so it’s worth exploring your options with your Academic (Personal) Tutor at your first meeting.

Register with the Student Health Centre

It’s important that you register with Penryn Surgery when you arrive in Penryn. You can do this during ‘Move-in’ weekend in The Compass (Exchange Building, Level 1 Library), or email compass@fxplus.ac.uk to request a registration form. There are doctor clinics available with Penryn Surgery in the Tremough House Annexe, Penryn Campus, five days a week during term time. For more information about local GP surgeries click here.

Contact our Accessibility and Inclusive Learning teams if disability support is required

You can go back and find more information about this in Week 1 of this course, or click here for the University’s accessibility and inclusion web pages.

Find out more about ResLife

The ResLife Team is here to welcome you to Cornwall, your new home away from home. The team is made up of students studying at Falmouth University and the University of Exeter. The primary goal is to help you make the most of your university life, and this year they have teamed up with the SU and Events teams to host a social calendar of events and activities for students living in halls of residence, both on and off campus, as well as acting as a friendly and familiar face in halls for signposting you to relevant wellbeing and support services. A great way to make new friends and feel at home, you can keep up to date with everything they’re doing on Instagram.

There is an email address that you can use for any practical questions about your accommodation, worries about living with others and questions about living in Falmouth, Penryn and the wider area which is halls.help@fxplus.ac.uk
