my induction course progress si showing me that im 88% done but i cannot figure out why if i have completed all of the assignments some of them are not letting me mark as done
Yeah the same thing is happening to me. It is showing 88% when I have completed everything.
Same thing is happening to me right now, it won’t let me complete the induction.

Hi everyone, thanks for pointing this out! I have looked through the sections of the course and checked that there was no archived or hidden content that may have been affecting your progress percentage. Hopefully it should be resolved now and should allow you to have 100% completion - but if that's still not the case, reply to this message and let me know

Hello. I received the reading suggestions list today, but I know that I have just one week until I move to Exeter. I will purchase some books, however I would like to check if it would be worth it to bring my own books on history from home to my accommodation as I have been reading a lot this year. I tried to find the reading suggestions list during the summer, but couldn't find it until the induction course today.
Hi Daniel, it's completely up to you whether you bring the books you have already with you. It might be worth taking a look at the modules on your programme and seeing if any of the books you have might be relevant to them. There's no compulsory reading or work you have to do before you start your course, and all the core reading material will also be available in the Library or on the Library online catalogue.
Thank you for clarifying this. I have some books relevant to the modules I chose for the first year, so I will bring them. I have also ordered some books from the reading suggestions list.

Sorry managed to fix it! Think a couple of the sections didn’t mark as finished the first time through!

Hi Jess, module selection opened yesterday and will close on 4 October 2024. Once you register and activate your student email you should be able to choose your modules. There's more info on the online module selection webpage.
I was wondering as an international student doing the LLM Law and Business programme, do we have to wait until we have finished the international student clearance before we can pick our modules?
Hi Alexys, you don't have to wait for international student clearance before you pick your modules. Module selection opened yesterday and will close on 4 October 2024 - once you activate your student email you should be able to choose your modules on SRS. Hi Yunmeng, have you activated your student email account yet? You can only use Online module selection once you have done that. If you have and it's still not working, I would suggest looking at the instructions on the Online module selection webpage or contacting your Hub/Info Point. For MA English Literary Studies, your hub is Queen's: info.queens@exeter.ac.uk.
Hello, I was wondering when and how we will be able to view our timetable for welcome week/in person induction relating to our courses?
Hi Jessica, your personal timetable is usually made available the weekend before Welcome Week, or early on the Monday. However you can also find a schedule of events for your subject on our New Student pages - just choose whether you are undergraduate or postgraduate and then look under your subject in the drop down menu.
How do I make an informed choice on what module to choose which is outside my course? I am studying BA History and I think I have a clear idea on what sparks my interest regarding the optional modules within my first year, however I'm not entirely sure what to choose when deciding what module to pick that's not a module not within the History course. I know what stimulates me intellectually, however I don't know if that's solely enough to base the decision on.
Hi Finley, you don't have to choose a module outside of your course if you don't want to, you could just study 100% history modules. However taking a module outside of History gives you the option to explore another subject you're interested in. When choosing what module to pick, a good place to start is thinking about what stimulates you intellectually (as you say) or continuing another subject you might have studied at school or college and got good grades in. Or you could think about what you might want to do later down the line - further study or as a career, and consider modules that might equip you with useful skills/knowledge for that.
I am taking classical studies and english as a combined honours degree, and pretty much all of my induction events in freshers week are clashing with others- is there any way to sort this out?
Hi Rhianna, clashes with induction events when you're studying in more than one department can sometimes be inevitable and unfortunately there's not much you can do as the sessions can't be rescheduled. What I would suggest is attend as many as you can, and then contact the Programme Director or Director of Education & Student Experience for the subject of the induction event you couldn't go to. They will be able to highlight anything you should know that you missed and may be able to share PowerPoint slides from the induction (or a recording, as sometimes they are recorded too).

Hi, I have a question, I will be studying as a part time student, MA in Intercultural communication and international business. I have picked the compulsory modules in my timetable but I don’t quite understand if the timetable shows schedule for full time student or part time. Could you please clarify this to me. Thank you!
Hi Valeriia, I've checked this with the programme director for your Masters - Susana Afonso. The total 180 credits is distributed over 2 years and can either be split equally (with 90 credits per year) or unevenly (with 75 credits in first year and 105 credits in second year). Your compulsory modules are automatically allocated and you need to select additional modules - including compulsory pathway modules (60 credits in total over two years) and optional modules (30 credits in total over two years).
Susana says you have registered for 60 credits so far (30 credits non-elective core SMLM987 module + 2x15-credit compulsory pathway modules). You now have two options: 1) Take only pathway compulsory modules this year, meaning you'll need to select an additional 30 credits of your pathway module OR 2) Combine optional modules with the compulsory pathway modules you're already enrolled in. Whichever option you choose, the total number of credits should follow the distribution of either 90 credits per year or 75 in Year 1 and 105 in Year 2. You can contact Susana directly to go over this in detail this week if that helps.

Hi, I'm doing BA Classical Studies and English - on the webpage for this, it says first years take 60 credits of compulsory modules and 60 optional, with 30 compulsory credits from Classical Studies and English respectively. However, once I'd picked my optional modules (30 credits per discipline), it seems that I'm doing 60 credits over two compulsory modules for Classical Studies and 30 credits of one compulsory module for English bringing my total credits for the year to 150 as opposed to 120. Is this normal?
Hi Holly, you should only be doing 30 credits of compulsory modules this year for Classical Studies - either CLA1005 or CLA1006, whichever one is running this year. This means that it shouldn't be possible to take both because they run on alternate years and only one will be running this year. Because one isn't running, this will also mean you'll only be taking 120 credits (as normal).
Hi, I have signed up for my modules. However, I wasn't sure if I had to give a second and third choice if I didn't get my first choice so I didn't. Will this be a problem?
Hi Carl, while all modules have the option to be ranked not all of them will need to be. Without knowing the details of your modules, I would suggest having a look at this video on how to do your ranking (you'll to use your student account details to access it) - it explains when not to rank your modules and how to rank ones that DO need to be ranked.
Hi, the option to select modules isn't available on my SRS. Will this be resolved or should I contact someone in IT?
Hi Jasmine, if you have activated your university IT account that should give you the ability to see the option to select modules on SRS. If you have definitely activated your student email account and still don't have the option to select modules, I'd suggest emailing the Info Point for your subject (contact details here - it's likely to be Queen's, Amory or Peter Chalk)

Hi Darcey, you can find a schedule of Welcome Week activities for you subject on the Faculty New Student page (just click your subject in the drop-down list). If your timetable is empty and it shouldn't be, I'd suggest speaking to your Hub/Info Point at info.amory@exeter.ac.uk - or you can go in person to the front desk in the Amory Building.

Hi Tom, if you are still waiting for your 'welcome' email at this point, I would recommend getting in touch with the Postgraduate Admissions team to find out the status of your application, as you would have usually received your welcome email by now with instructions on how to register. Alongside that, you can take a look at our New Students Guide which talks you through what you need to do before and when you arrive. You won't be able to access any of your course material until you have your student account set up, but you could also contact your programme director (they'll be listed on the MA programme webpage) to ask if there's anything you might be able to do relating to the study side of things.
